AUTHORS IN COMMUNITIES

The Minnesota Humanities Center's Authors in Communities program introduces award-winning Minnesota authors, or Minnesota authors who represent "new literary voices," to schools and libraries in the communities of greater Minnesota.

Authors make two presentations during a visit to a rural community--one at an educational setting, and the other at a library or other public setting.

Applications to participate in the Authors in Communities program are open to libraries within Minnesota communities outside of the 7-county metro area. These communities must have a population of under 14,000.

Supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Humanities Center's Authors in Communities program has hosted authors who include Will Weaver, Joe Amato, Lorna Landvik, and Anton Treuer.

The Minnesota Humanities Center is now accepting applications for 2009.
