POSITION TITLE: Program Assistant (full-time)
REPORTS TO:  Director of Programs

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
As a member of the Community Engagement team, the Program Assistant supports day-to-day program execution to ensure rigorous, meaningful, and outcomes-based partnerships with a variety of cultural organizations, libraries, and schools providing public humanities programs that benefit communities across Minnesota. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinate with program partners in the execution of collaborative programming
    a)     support and strengthen positive relationships with program partners
    b)     apply strong analytical problem solving skills when situations require
    c)     demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in coordinating program logistics
    d)     develop deep understanding of program partners and the communities they represent and serve, to ensure effective communication with partners
    e)  follow directions to complete tasks within established deadlines
  2. Organize program files and materials for ease of reporting
    a)      process and file appropriate paperwork
    b)      coordinate with accounting staff on program-related payments
  3. Effectively collaborate with other members of the Community Engagement Team, developing and maintaining positive and supportive working relationships
  4. Collaborate with other Humanities Center staff, consultants and program partners, to enthusiastically promote Community Engagement programs
  5. Ensure compliance with all requirements of state Legacy Amendment funding used for these programs
  6. Perform other accountabilities and projects as assigned
 
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Position requires a self-motivated, flexible and optimistic individual, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to resourcefully implement details and also understand the big picture
  • Ability to work in complex projects and adapt to changing situations
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • High comfort level and technological skills with online/digital learning environments and social media (e.g. Skype, Facebook, twitter, blogging)
  • A.A or B.A. in a humanities discipline preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office Suite of programs (version 2010 preferred
  • Experience with Constant Contact
  • Working knowledge of databases and effective program measurement and evaluation
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, with some travel throughout Greater Minnesota required (less than 5%)
